Young photographer looking for feedback on: HDR / Long exposure / & Food photography

Greetings! My name is Jeremy, I am a younger photographer on this forum. I have been out taking a lot of photos recently since the weather is getting nicer up here in Canada. I would love some feedback, for higher resolution photographs visit my flicker page

These photographs were captured with a Canon T4i, or a Canon 5Dmkii. Between a 18-55mm or my 24-105 F4 L.

is little over saturated for me and the uneven vignette is distracting. I like the shot but (just my opinion) I would dial the saturation down just a tid bit and get rid of the vignette.

Again, the saturation is little high for my liking. But I like everything else about it.

I would dial the exposure down a bit on the land section. The sky looks fantastic to me, but the color suggests a later time of day than the field is suggesting. When I say dial it back a bit, I really mean just a bit. Maybe 1/3 stop. If it is there to show, show a little bit more of the field as well, I would like to see the field closer to filling the the bottom 3rd of the frame, maybe not completely, but close.

I like this a lot. Its timed perfectly, and has good colors on my opinion.


Overall, a very nice set in my opinion. The suggestions are just to my taste, take them with a grain of salt. I would suggest unhiding your EXIF data on Flickr, it will help us give you pointers when asking for CC. Keep up the good work. You did well with these. I laos checked out your website. You are a talented young man. Thanks for sharing them with us.

I like them quite a bit and agree with the over saturation. The strawberry on the other hand, is awesome, hands down.

First, some good work here with nice potential.

Second, my C&C:
1. Not wild about the vignetting. Furthermore, the lights are too bright--they grabbed my eyes right away (when instead you've got lovely color, nice scene, superb reflection--a lot going on here--and instead it's the lights that grab the eyes). Think about reducing the exposure a bit (or looking for ways to dim the lights).

2. Oversaturated and yet...not enough color in the foreground water (which looks overexposed).

3. I'd underexpose/use exposure compensation on this again to get richer colors and more darkness without saturation. Also, consider cropping this photo...you want a lonely tree? Than do a horizontal crop which cuts out the foliage on the left and right showing just the tree, horizon, and clouds.

4. Lovely photo. Reflection in the lower left corner is my only negative about the shot.

+1 to all of this.

#1 I'm glad that I'm not the only one that thought that the reflection of the lights was too bright. I do love the colors and when I saw the first image I was hooked. I love the blues and the vignette is a bit too strong. If it were toned down a bit it wouldn't be so noticeable.

#2 I'm not a huge fan of HDR. I think that it rarely looks good and when it does you can't tell that it's an HDR image. It always seems to over-saturate the colors instead of enhancing them.

#3 I was going to suggest a vertical crop focused on the tree only with plenty of sky but when I took it into PS it didn't look so great so not much that I can suggest to help.
