A friend photographer asked me to help him with his digital archive. He shoots with canon 5d and 30d right now, but during the last 3 digital years for him, he stored a few harddrives of wild nature photographs (www.lechkarauda.pl) (btw I did the the site ).

He's looking for a program which will store only thumbnails of his photos on the hard drive while the original pics will be on a dvds/cd, and of course with a good way to find a photo by keywords.

Do you have such a program? If so what is it's name and what do you think about it?

Have a look at Picasa. 'I think' that it works similar to that...where it builds a thumbnail gallery which you can easily search through...while leaving the image files in their place. I'm not sure if it will work with CD/DVDs though.

It's free, so that's a plus.
