This one is in my backyard. Sunday afternoon I saw him on the railing of my deck so I grabbed my camera and went outside to watch him (or her!). I stood in the corner of my deck and after a little while he decided I wasn't a threat. He sings a unique little warble, and while I was outside earlier this evening I heard him again. Sure enough he was back on the rail of my deck. I guess he has a good vantage point from there.

Both shot with a Nikon D7000 and Sigma 150-500 at 450mm. ISO 800, F/8. First one at 1/640 second and the second at 1/1600 second.

Nice captures, second is my fav :) the spider really stands out in that one !

Nice shots Scott. How do you like that lens? I need to get something with a little more reach than my 70-300.

I agree. I preferred the plain background and the posture of the bird in that one.

I like it very well, Jerry. It's pretty big and heavy as well as pretty slow but stopped down to about f/8 it does a very good job. I don't know of any others of similar reach in its price range, and those are the reasons I bought it. I have the 70-300 as well and this one has a LOT more reach. I've had it since October and have never been disappointed with the purchase.

The original shots are a good bit sharper, of course. These aren't cropped a great deal but they were reduced a great deal for web photos.

Both are great but that second one is just amazing!

Both are nice shots but I also like the 2nd the best. Nice work
