Battou, If you have photoshop you might want to try this procedure--it usually works for me......

1. Dupe the layer
2. Duplicate the document (image)
3. Select the duplicate image
a) Filter. Gausean Blur. Average.
This will average all the colors contained in the image
4. Select the original image.
a) Image. Adjustments. Levels
b) Select the middle eye dropper in the Levels drop down menu
c) With the eye dropper click on the averaged color in the duplicated image.
