Canon Flash

First time SLR camera user here, and im looking into buying a Flash for my Digital Rebel, what am I looking for? what are some good flash units? some so bad I should stay away from?

420EX or the 550EX, if you want Canon. 420 is much lighter when compared to the 550.

550ex is worth the extra money - the 580ex even more so and works better with digital as it allows for the 1.6x conversion.

The 550 and 580 also can act as masters for other speedlites - whereas the 420 can only act as a slave.

Ive heard the most flashes have trouble working with the 300D, so make sure you call and ask.

And personally id get a sunpak...but youll need the £150 one, because thats the only one that works auto :S

I got my flash for free and haven't learned to use it yet. Thanx for the thread EMX you've prompted me to go and research what my flash it all about
