I am looking to purchase a carbon fiber tripod. Weight is a concern for me as I do a lot of hiking with my camera and often carry a load of other gear. I have been looking at the Slik's and Manfrotto's. There is a significant difference in price between the two. The Slik's are running around $250-$300 and the Manfrottos are all $450+. Does anyone here know if the Slik is an inferior product or are they jkust trying to compete with the brand name product? One thing I noticed is that the Slik does not have a leveler built into the leg assembly but the Manfrotto does. I know this is not the reason for the price but it is a feature I would like to have and it seems that most heads do not have a leveler built in (I saw some Gitzo heads with a leveler but they are pricey). Any help for this new amateur photographer is greatly appreciated.
