Well I guess we can consider ourselves vindicated for going digital if Clyde Butcher has final gone from his view cameras with film to digital.
Beautiful work for many years. Like so many of us he's just getting old and the view camera is just too heavy.

Having not heard of him until your post, I looked him up. I did not notice any mention of his going to digital.

My question now is:

Can he achieve the same tonal range as in film?
 
Interesting, followed his work for some time after going to one of his exhibitions. I am planning to see his Cuba exhibit that is in Miami.

To me his work has a lot of the qualities I see in the work of Ansel Adams.
The shot mentioned above taken with the A7 is very nice in my estimation.
