    Hi all

Can anyone let me know where the best place is for a cheap lens. Will even go for refurb. Im in the UK, but may look further. I only really want to go to perhaps 200mm or at a push 300mm.

    Thanks

I would say that the price was within budget, but may get hammered on import duty if I got it from the US. Thanks for the info

The 55-200 VR is a fantastic general telephoto lens for the D40. If you want to push it to 300mm on the D40 and you want to be able to use autofocus, the only next available option for Nikon lenses is the 70-300 AF-S VR, which is more than double the price of the 55-200 VR. You could get a 70-300G for less than $150 US brand new, which is apparently a pretty good deal, but it won't AF on the D40.

also if u want to speed a bit more around like $200 USD more u can get the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-70-300mm-4-5-5-6G-Digital-Cameras/dp/B000HJPK2C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1225139632&sr=8-1"]70-300 VR [/ame]putting it a $478 USD which i know is more but much better build quaitly and that extra 100mm and it will autofocus on the D40 but if u want to save a bit longer i think this would be the lens to get.
