For a first go at fireworks, don't beat yourself up. Not too bad, but you can improve.
Keep in the back of your mind that a tripod is a very important part of your photo gear arsenal. Good sturdy legs and a quality head that will support the maximum amount of weight your heaviest setup (and potential future) will support is important. It's worth saving up for this expense and consider around 3 bills (to start) for solid performance. It 'can possibly' last you for the rest of your career.
