My name's Timothy, I'm 24 years old and I really enjoy photographing a wide variety of things. However, I don't really have the means to get around and take pictures very often. The best camera I've ever owned is my current iPod Touch 5g with the Camera+ app. It's not great, but for the most part it gets the job done. I really know very little about cameras and how to operate their more advanced functions like shutter speed, aperture, etc., I guess I'm more of a point-and-shoot kinda photographer. I hope I can get some help here as I'm trying to buy a better camera for clear long distance shots as well as macro shots. I'm glad to be here!

Get a used (ready?) 35mm film camera and a 50mm prime lens for learning. There are a number of free resources around that can help you out with the basics.
