Help! Canon Service Center Refuses to Give Info

It's standard policy in most areas of business not to divulge information about services provided to another person. Case in point- take a car to a shop for a pre-purchase inspection, the potential buyer pays the shop for the inspection, they and only they get the results of the evaluation. A home inspection? Same deal. Medical records, repair records of a camera... it's all the same. Private between purchaser of service and provider of service. I'd be suspicious of any company willing to hand that information out, even after a sale of the item in question.

What you need to do is file for a dispute through PayPal. They should be able to help you resolve this issue with no problem. Its a simple process and usually doesnt take too long. You should be able to get a refund under the guideline of the item not as described in the auction. BUT, make sure you try and resolve it with the seller first.

Because of all the new laws concerning HIPPA, any company is reluctant to give out anything that might be construed at personal information. You can not place Canon in the middle of a dispute you have with the seller. There are steps you can take with Ebay and if you paid with Paypal. Explore these options and you should find some resolution.
