Am buying my first digital camera and since I have quite a few old af nikkor lenses I assume it's prudent to buy a nikon body. The last camera I purchased was in 1988 so I am not a junkie as what I buy I will use for years to come. I was looking at the 7000 and wish it had an articulating display like the 5100 but at any rate I would appreciate some advise from hand on users regardless of which model you have not limited to these two to help me make my decision. Thanks so much cheers Wally

Since you already have some older lenses your best bet in my opinion is to purchase a Nikon that will meter with older lenses and that also has a built in focus motor for screw drive AF lenses. Your choice of D7000 ticks these boxes as well as have excellent image capabilities.

Be sure to get a camera with the focus motor. The D5100 doesn't have one. As above D7000.. or D90..

The D7000 will also meter with older Nikon AI and AIS lenses, while the D5100 will not.
