Info on astro?

I just started reading about this stuff and I am interested in trying it out. I was thinking that my Pentax ME-Super would be a good camera to use instead of my D40. I have been reading about heat issues with digital. So, what kind of settings do I use to do this? Wide open aperture, stopped down to something? I assume a wider lens is better? Any info would be very helpful

Information on what "astro" you're trying to do would be useful in answering questions. Also, I suggest you read the four-part series I wrote in the Articles of Interest section of this site on astrophotography. It's digital-based, but pretty much all the settings should be the same.
