is black and white over rated?

People covert everything to BW and call it art. :D So yes, I think it's over rated.

I really don't understand the question.
Is B&W over rated?

Is purple over-rated?
Is canvas over-rated?
Is double matting over-rated?

Everything is great in the appropriate place.
Everything is wrong if it is misused.

Not really very relevant, but I hate most mattes with a passion. It's distracting when the matte is 80% of the frame, which I think is opposite the intended effect. lol

Overrated? I don't think so. It's not for every picture of corse, but I do love it. I don't generally like black and white landscapes, but I actually usually prefer portraits in black and white. *shrug* just my underrated 2¢ ;-)

No way is it overrated. I shoot black and white film quite often. I tend to use it in certain circumstances, like night time and in fog.

Sometimes I think I should get a Leica M Monochrome with nothing but the APO 50 ! Kind of ascetic.

As somebody who prefers to take images of people, I dont need color too urgently.
