Lens for wildlife photography

I have used that lens on sn XTi and it is okay. Mediocre in my book, but for that price what can one expect? The lack of IS will make sharp picks at 300mm a tad precarious. It is soft at 300 f/5.6, moreso than the 70-300. Say f/11 may be its best aperature at that range. Best to rest the camera on a stable surface or use a tripod/monopod. If you find yourself using the zoom end a lot, it might be best to consider the 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS. Overall a much better lens in build, image quality and Image Stabilized.

OK, thanks .. the IS one i think is 380 pounds ... which is in my budget ...
