I've been looking at this monitor online (the LG L2000CP). They claim to have an S-IPS panel and the going price is only about $450 - which would be a great price for an S-IPS if the thing is any good. I was about ready to buy a couple of Apple Cinema Displays, but this would be a considerable cost savings. I can't find a review online. Does anyone know anything about this monitor or can anyone point me to reviews?

I found this thread through Google while looking for some reviews about this monitor, and thought I'd post what I found since this one's in the first few pages.

Result one: https://www.saverstore.com/productinfo/Product.aspx?product_id=20021201&rstrat=
Result two: http://www.pcsuperstore.com/reviews/Q76169-LG_Electronics-L2000CP-BF.html

However, the most interesting one is this, which I used Google Translate to get the information: Translated version of http://www.ciao-shopping.nl/LG_L2000CP_SF__Review_108244

Sparing the reading, it seems this is a 6-bit IPS panel, which doesn't use dithering to compensate for the colour loss - both which lower the production cost and eventually the price.
Additionally, the reviews indicate uniformity issues.
To conclude this up for future 'LG L2000CP Review' searches, this is not a rare find, but a crippled IPS panel. Additional info on the 6/8-bit in advanced panels here: 6-Bit vs. 8-Bit - PVA / MVA vs. TN Film, Are Things Changing?

Hmmmm .... I'm more confused than ever ...

I'm not sure whether this means that the LG is decent or not ....

Well seeing as this is a photography forum, and this panel is able to display 262 thousand colours instead of 16.7 million, I probably wouldn't recommend it.
