Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy a tripod for a coming trip. So weight/size is an important factor.
I have no other tripod so this tripod will serve me for later 'non-travel' use ( I don't do super long exposures or astrophotography)
My current heaviest setup is Canon 550d/t2i + grip + Tamron 70-300mm + flash.

While doing my research these tripods caught my eyes:
Sirui t-024x (the only carbon fiber I can afford, super light and small - but can it handle my gear?)
Sirui T-1004X + ball head from Sirui
Sirui T-1004XL + ball head from Sirui (like the former but a little bit taller)
Sirui ET-1004 + ball head from Sirui (same as T-1004X but with flip-locks)
Mefoto RoadTrip (A1350Q1, heaviest of the bunch)

There are also 1005 models with 5 leg sections instead of 4, which makes them smaller but probably less stable.

What do you guys say?

Thanks!

I haven't used any of them. The travel tripod I have is this one. I think the Sirui units are similar.

It is not what you would call rock solid like a bigger unit but, if you keep your hands off the camera during exposure, it is adequate. Rated for 18 lbs. Whichever you choose, get a way to fire the shutter remotely or use the self timer to fire the shutter.

Hi Fred,
Thanks for the advice but this brand is hard to find in my country.
Also this tripod is more on the 'heavy' side (4 pounds).
