Ok, so I found an article in a phtotgraphy magazine about a tripod that could be converted to a monopd, and I have been meaning to ask you guys about it.

But I waited too long. Now I cant remember the name of it, and google even let me down.

So, does anyone know what I'm talking about?

(I think the magazine was Popular Photography... And I checked their site and turned up nothing, either)

I would like a tripod that has a center column that is also the monopod.

Thought I saw one on B&H, but can't find it anymore. Maybe I dreamt it cuz it sounds like such a great idea?

A few of manufacturers of tripods have that feature... you just have to look.

    Culmann Magic 2 does it.

I have no freakin idea why Manfrotto/BOgen discontinued it but they used to have one and I use mine frequently:

I'll take a quick look around and post the links of others....

Mother in law has one.... convenient but no way near as stable as a tripod. I personally wouldn't trust it as a tripod. She stands it up but with the monopod in its lowest setting... kinda like a table tripod.

Here is something along the same lines... again... didn't fit my needs but it might work for you:
