The tighter one, I should think...
Though it IS quite dark all in all... and the modern part is quite far away. I like the juxtaposition of old in the front and new (modern) in the back, but somehow I find the "new" is too small to become really strong...

A tighter crop works better here for sure. In fact, I'd suggest cropping off the black space on the left side to make the photo more balanced.

I like #2, but like WNK stated, I'd crop a bit more of the left off.
