Selling photobooks?

Has anyone had any real world experience with trying to sell photography books to stores? I have looked online at a couple how's but was wondering what the real process is.

I would think that finding & using a publisher would be very helpful...maybe even necessary.

You can produce your own books and sell them to local stores. What kinds of photos are you talking about? http://lulu.com allows you to produce your own books and the prices aren't bad.

The problem may be with the stores. A local, privately owned or operated store may be happy to buy some books from you....but a chain may not want just anyone walking in and soliciting them to sell some books. There is probably an application process...or maybe they deal only with publishing companies :scratch:

Exactly, which is why I mentioned local stores. Here in our little small town, this is done all the time. There are books on beekeeping, photo books of the fjord, etc in a lot of the little shops.
