Alot can be said for propper handling the camera. Tuck your elbows tight into your body. This helps alot with steadying a camera.
As for a tripod. I just bought a second carbon fiber one off a seller on ebay (cheap china copy). It cost 1/4 of what I paid for my manfroto carbon. It is not an exact match. But for the price I am very happy with its quality. 3 1/2 to 4# carbon fiber tripod for $75.
