Something a bit different

Had a bit of a play with this, layered onto a black ground. Only my second B&W shot. Comments and tips please

I think it looks bloody good!! Especially the high res version. The right eye (camera left) is a bit dark, but it can't be helped and it's sufficiently visible that it's not a distraction. And I like how the dark feathers eventually fade into the background.

Definitely looks good at high res - the smaller version could perhaps stand a little more sharpening though - like the conversion too.

Great shot. Would work even better if the right eye was illuminated as well as the left to get the intensity of the stare.

So I guess your other snail, I mean chauffeur, will be on duty from now on then!!! :greenpbl: Tell you wot, I think I shall now go to Singapore and tour Tasmania for the next 4 WEEKS while you stand in the shop listening to wedding plans and watch google earth to help pass the time :mrgreen:

Didn't want to brighten the eye too much and lose the moody effect, but you are right it would have helped the stare a bit.
