Can anyone suggest a good telephoto lens for moon photography which would allow me to get relatively close while retaining clarity without breaking my pocket book? I have also considered a 2x teleconverter which might work well with my camera, but I'm curious and more interested in what some of you think about actual lenses for moon shots. I have a Konica Minolta Z3 which does well enough with it's 12x (420mm) optical zoom for just about everything terrestrial and also does decent moon shots, but I want to get as close as I can to the moon. If I use the 4x digital zoom (ack!) then I can get much closer in the 48x (1680mm or so) range, but as we all know that means I lose clarity and detail. Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated.
