Hi there, am going travelling to Tanzania in the summer, going on safaris and hiking and what not.

I am looking for a single zoom lense to take with me, I have about £300 to spend.

    I am using a canon 400d

My techinal knowledge is poor, when am searching for one it all just confusses me, I would really love some help.

    Thank you :)

Tamron and sigma both have very good 500mm f4-5.6(I think, may be a tad bit higher) lenses in that price range. You see them float around, brand new, on ebay from retailers all the time for that. Another option if you need a lowlight lense might be the sigma 80-200mm macro, but it would have to be purchased used to be in your price range.

New Tamron 18-250 could be close. Slightly over budget but great range. I'd normally say get better. A second hand 70-200f4L can be had for around £330!!!
