Nice light and shadow, and texture in the cement wall. And a nice range of tones. But the subject matter doesn't thrill me

Chances are that's the way J&P built it. The more I look at it, the more I think I should fix that (or just delete the damned thing).

To be honest the subject doesn't thrill me much either, but I thought the tones came out quite nice.

Nice tones are only one part of a photograph.
This would have been great with someone walking down the corridor.
I really like the sharpness of the wall on the left, but yes- there needs to be some more prominent subject matter.
