Photos NOT OK to edit
I have a very nice Canon EF 70-300mm IS USM lens that's acting peculiar. Seems to work on my Canon EOS 5D Classic, but doesn't work with my Canon EOS 20D. When placed on the 20D the IS function jumps a bit and then goes dead with a 001 error message. Sometimes it'll fire, but no image appears on the screen. When placed back on my 5D, the IS jumps a bit, then locks up focuses and takes a great photo. Anyone have an idea what the problem is? I'm also interested in knowing the reason for the IS jitter.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Mike

Hey Mike! It sounds like you're having a bit of trouble with your Canon EF 70-300mm IS USM lens. The issue you're experiencing with the IS function jumping and then displaying an error message on your Canon EOS 20D could be due to compatibility issues between the lens and the camera body. The Canon EOS 20D might not fully support the IS feature of the lens, leading to these errors and malfunctions.

As for the IS jitter you're observing, image stabilization systems in lenses can sometimes exhibit small movements or vibrations when they are active. This jitter is a normal behavior of the IS mechanism as it works to stabilize the image. However, if the jitter is excessive or causing issues with image quality, it might indicate a problem with the IS system itself.

It's great that the lens works well with your Canon EOS 5D Classic, but it seems like there might be some compatibility issues with the Canon EOS 20D. It could be worth checking for any firmware updates for the camera body or contacting Canon support for further assistance in resolving the compatibility issues between the lens and the 20D.
