I took this one this afternoon. Did a little post processing in lightroom. Tell me what you think!

It's not very interesting. Not being mean but it's just of the back of a house between a couple trees.

all right, but is it technically sound?

you mean exposure wise? It looks fine to me but I'm on my phone so the image is small

I find the droopy branches of the left tree unattractive. I like how the light falls on the lawn but the lawn is devoid of any extra elements that could add color, counterpoint or narrative. The tree on the right i find more attractive. So is the framed window, the roof apex above and the color of the lawn beneath. You could get closer to the house and try using some or all those elements in a more creative way.

ok, thanks! it is good to hear about the bad just as much as the good. any other opinions on the picture?

Increase shadow protection to get back some texture from the dark trees

i actually made the trees dark on purpose in post, i wanted the focus of the picture to be on the house and grass, so when they are brighter, i thought it would be easier to tell that they were the subject.

No.
That's the short answer.

Appears to me that you're on the wrong side of the house for this shot, judging from the giant over exposed area above the house and between the two trees ( incidentally, which has effectively aided under exposure of the trees and foreground AND the house) which appears to be caused by the sun at around 2:30 - 3:00 pm. The composure is God awful.
You needed two trees further away from the house to effectively " frame it" without cutting off both ends of the house.

I think you will get better as time goes on. I think that Rome wasn't built in a day. I think that you are trying and learning as you go.
I think that is a good thing. I think I would like to see you not give up. I think you should continue practicing and learning. I also think that I've done a lot worse when I first picked up a camera.
