I want ice cream. I have ice cream in the freezer, but it's cold in the house right now and I'll be colder with the ice cream. It's macadamia caramel ice cream, too. What should I do? Put a jumper on and eat ice cream? Or forget the ice cream?

NEVER, EVER ignore the Ice Cream.
Do whatever you have to do, but when the ice cream begins to call your name, you MUST respond.

Oh, and I'm not a Yank, I'm a good American Southern girl.
But I STILL know what a jumper is. And yes, put one on, THEN eat the ice cream.

Charlie you're a professional jackass??? I didn't know! I feel I'm still only an amateur JA ;)

Silly people get all bent out of shape.

ME? or another Charlie?

Real True Fact (according to my grandfather, and that makes it so...):

Eating ice cream actually helps warm you up.
Eating ice cream = calorie intake = heat production. Therefore, the more ice cream you eat, the warmer you get. :lmao:

Oh no thats scary :(

Oh.. and I stopped being nice... OOPS! :grumpy: lol!

WHY do some of these people who think they are ready to be PRO Photographers seem to have such thin skin when someone suggests--okay, states outright--that they are NOT ready??
I just don't get that.

If I'm claiming to be a PROFESSIONAL, in almost any field, seems like I should be confident enough to take some heat about whether my skills are up to par or not.

But that's just me...

maybe it is how I phrase things? And I was trying to be gentle! :)

It's because their friends and family tell them they take great photos, they should do this for money, etc. So, when they submit for their first real C&C, they find out that their photos are not as great as they thought and they get their feelings hurt.

I took my first formal photo class a couple years ago. I took in a "portfolio" (aka a photo album) and showed it to the instructor. She is a free-lance photographer, published several times in the Washington Post - not a full-time professor. I was devastated when she was done. But, I listened and tried to learn from the experience. Earlier this week, I asked her to look at my son's portfolio so he can get an objective, non-academic review.

I'm still no pro, and do not aspire to be one, but I do the best I can and hope to achieve those kind of results.

You're just BLUNT sometimes, and some people, I guess, mistake that for rude.
But your directness is actually one of the things I rather like about you. No one has to wonder what you *really* mean.
