Buget is $3,000 and maybe a little more if I can sell my Nikon 18-200mm lens. Can buy one now and the other after. For use with D200.....

Was thinking about the 70-200mm f 2.8 but what else?

17-55 VR f/2.8 and 70-200 VR f/2.8. Add in a 1.4 TC if you can for the 70-200.

I recommend a 3 lens kit, A.K.A. the Nikon Trinity;

  1. AF-S 14-24 mm f/2.8G ($1800, new)
  2. AF-S 24-70 mm f/2.8G ($1740, new)
  3. AF-S 70-200 mm f/2.8G ($2300, new)
about twice your budget.

So:

  1. AF-S 12-24mm f/4G ($1000, new)
  2. AF 24-85 mm f/2.8-4D ($700, new
  3. AF 80-200 mm f/2.8D ($1100, new)
a trinity that will fit in your budget and I would add the
  1. AF 50 mm f/1.8D ($125, new)
  2. AF-S 35mm f/1.8G ($200, new)
  3. AF 85mm f/1.8D ($450, new)

What kind of stuff do you shoot?

Good Suggestions make Decisions Decisions :gah:

The things I like to shoot are, indoor/outdoor agility trials. Pet portraits, kids, and some people. And just about everything from old houses, old cars, barns. Pretty much everything and anything ;)

I already have the nifty 50 50mm and the 105 Macro.
