What's new

3 grand....

Sell the 60D, get the 7D slightly used. Get 24-70L, and 85mm 1.8, 580EX ii. Spend the rest on studio lighting equipment if that's what you're shooting. If not, I sell the 50mm 1.4 and get the 50mm 1.2L. :) Or if you're into landscape get the Tokina 11-16 2.8. All up to you! And yes I think the $300 to upgrade to the 7D is worth it if you had the money to.

Why would you upgrade to the 7D for studio work? It has the same sensor as the 60D, and the AF would be worthless in a studio. The 7D is definitely a much better camera, but studio work is really where full-frame shines. I say go for the 5D2 for studio or a 1Ds2 if you want full-frame and good AF.

I think I agree with some of the comments to stick with the 60D, I tihnk you should perhaps consider the 7D though, as from what I know... the 7D is a fantastically built camera in every sense of the word and has that PRO level feel to it!

But otherwise stick with the 60D and invest in one of those beautiful L prime lenses. If I was a Canon owner and I had 3 grand to spend, I would be headed straight to the Canon L lens department, specially as you already have a 70-200 2.8 L. Now is the time for you invest in a mid range/wide L prime.

Thank you guys for great comments and suggestions.

I shoot everything from still life to autocross events and after hearing your thought and doing some research 5D might not be the one for me.

I love the 7d for overall feel and weather sealed body, but since i use external mics for video when i shoot autocross events its nice to have some manual audio controls like 60d has. So since im not planning on getting away from canon anytime soon, and i do enjoy the L lenses after getting my 70-200, i might just invest in glass until 5d successor comes out with faster auto focus.

I think you made the right choice. I kinda doubt the 5d3 will be THE ONE either. From what's leaked out of Canon it's still going to have a pretty crippled focus system for the faster/low light/sports stuff. Which did NOT make me a happy camper. They REALLY want to push you to the 1D class for that stuff. Like we're made of money or something???

If your not shooting professionaly you don't need a full fram camera spend you money on good glass... And go Nikon!!!

If I already had the 60D I would just be happy with it and buy some nice fast glass.

Go for the 5d mark ii
now it is cheaper
