3 more from my trip to the Smokies

Two of my favorite places to go around here, particularly Cades Cove--I'd go there every weekend. If it weren't for all you tourists... ;)

I like the first shot, but I think I'd like to see it in a different format; longer width and narrower height; give it a panoramic feel. Or at least either lose more of the grass in the foreground, or more of the sky.

Second one is a nice enough shot of the falls, but it doesn't really pop--it's just kinda flat looking. Even the greens, which should be pretty brilliant this time of year, just seem a bit dull.

Not really a fan of the last one; what did you intend for the subject to be in this shot?

On the first one I wish I could make it more of a panoramic shot but with my current equipment I'm pretty much stuck with what I have

on the second I agree but now with my new filters it should help out with bringing out the colors

the third I just thought it was a relaxing view I know it isn't the greatest shot

A Polarizer may have been able to bring out some of the earth tones in all three, depending on your angle from the sun.
Also, if you had a tripod, you could have used a neutral density filter on #2 to slow the exposure and cream the water a little.

I'm thinking post-production cropping to make it a panoramic view. I'd do a quick crop to show what I'm thinking, but I'm not at the computer that has my CS5 software on it.

That is one of the problems right now, I don't have a computer with editing software right now, mine crashed and just haven't had time to mess with it, most posting is done at work or from my iPad

Whereabouts? Are you staying IN the Smokies? Hiking/camping?

We have a cabin rented just outside Gatlinburg. We try to go down at least once a year. Use to be more often but then we lived in Indiana. We spend a most of our time on the park doing something, on the trail, playing in the water or "picturing" as my little one would say.

i mentioned in the other thread "when I'm up there a polarizor helps me out with the haze and makes the sky blue"

I completely agree with SM4him about picture #1. There is really no foreground interest, so cropping nearly all of it out makes for a much stronger scenic. Picture #2 could also use a crop to help eleminate a lot of the excess brush above and to the side of the falls. And picture #3 looks over exposed with the tree having it's highlights blownout. Also a crop of about 1/2 of the brush above the tree bridge would really help the viewer focus on the subject.
