3 Shoots 1 Day

I was contacted on Monday by my job to potentially do something for Kato Brand. They wanted me to submit something along the lines of what they represent to hopefully land the account. Pieced together three shoots yesterday and here's a few from each. CC welcome and thanks for looking!

Side note: Lots of detail lost in the night time shots. Really wanted to use all natural lights so I left my strobes at home, and what do you know the models showed up late. I believe the ISO was jacked up to 10K.

The last two would benefit from a very very slightly more open frame.

The vignette's a bit much in the first one.

I'm not feeling the bootprints of a distinctive photographer here, what I am feeling is a guy who's pretty solid on producing stuff that looks like contemporary fashion photography. Depending on what the client is looking for, that's either a good thing or a bad thing.

That's fair. The shoots were really geared towards landing a job for a fashion company so I'm guessing I landed my mark.

The last shot does need a more-open frame, and the light control on the blown highlight and the muddy shadowed leg makes it seem like your lighting control is left to available light. I stopped and looked through the KATO brand web site. Wow....it has absolutely horrible photography, throughout. Every aspect of their commercial photos looks amateurish. Not that that is any reflection on you...but you could easily bring something to their site I suspect. Not sure who their creative people are, but they desperately could use some help in image-building.

I agree. Before the opportunity came up I actually was already a fan of their clothing so I'm super excited to possibly shoot for them. Their site is meh... but they make an awesome pair of jeans!

The strongest shots for me are the boots and shoes. Maybe you really like footwear or just have a keener sense of style when it comes to it, but I can imagine those two shots as advertisements for footwear.

The shoes are actually my favorite photo as well, odd enough. And I do LOVE shoes. Sneakers, boots, capped toes, loafers, boat shoes you name it! haha.
