35mm 1.8g dx questions

i don't pay that much attention to how the engines are built. i just admire the beauty of the vehicle and wish i could afford to buy one.

When I was shooting DX, this lens was far my most used lens. You can use this lens for just about anything, its not just for portraits. Try doing creative stuff with it using the shallow depth of field this lens offers. It focuses pretty close too, its a really versatile lens on DX. I only wished my 50 1.8G could focus as close.

Here's some random shots I've taken using the 35 1.8G DX on my D7000.

Great pictures. Curious, how do you get the star images that way? Obviously zero light pollution? I would guess. But wow. Good stuff

Yeah I live in a small town in Vermont, absolutely zero light pollution haha. I can almost see the milky way with the naked eye.

To get these kind of shots takes practice, you want higher iso so its more sensitive to light but not too high where you would add a lot of additional grain to the image. One might think you'd use a really slow shutter speed, but remember the earth rotates so a shutter speed longer than 15 seconds will cause noticeable star trails. So to compensate, you need to bump up the ISO instead. Its a lot of trial and error. Once you understand it, you can start doing stacking and higher ISO and start to get results like this:

I'm certainly not that good at it. I only started to learn this technique my self.

Unfortunately i live in a city and it sucks ass. When I head home to myrtle beach there's a strip of beach that had no homes on it in the beach boonies that has almost a 360 degree of nothing. I'll be posting up when I head down. Beautiful stuff man.
