35mm f/2 or 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5?

It's for a Pentax K100. The former is $60 cheaper. I'm pretty much set on between these two, but I can't decide. I know that I won't be doing a lot of portraits, and I could use the extra length.

So you don't want to do much portait... what do you want to do though?
And what lens do you have now?
(did you consider the 40mm f2.8 limited?)
