It was super gloomy out yesterday but on the way back to my car from work there were to really nice cars that were traded in. I wanted to get some practice in on shooting some descent cars, so I gave it a try. The only bad part is I could not move them to get some of the distraction out of the back ground. I tried laying down, standing up and really could not get stuff out of the back. I don't own any lighting equipment or big flashes yet but I am sure they would have been useful here. Anyway, here they are, tell me what you think.

1. its "ok" I think it would be better of the open space was framed above and right of the car. To me is just looks wrong as framed.

2. To be blunt looks like a mistake. Their should be more space around the car to balance the image. With eh car centred it just looks like a mistake.

I like 3 & 4. I think you nailed these. The crop on 3 look intentional and to me well framed. 4's position in the frame is nice and aggressive.

Thank you very much for your feed back! I really needed that so I can better understand what I am doing. Yes #2 was a fixer I guess. One of those "looked better on the camera screen" kinda things. #1 was hard to get without getting some much distraction from the back ground. There are like 10 motor homes behind these cars and I had to try and not show them. As you can see here

Really^ That is all you have. K thanks, Bye.

Agree with Alan on the comments, 1 would look better with more to the right of the frame, looks like the car is leaving the edge of the frame as it is now. As far as 4 goes, damn it's been along time since I've seen a Prowler...

Next time try framing the picture based on the subject don't adjust for the background. Then open the aperture to blur out the background. (or add blur in post) The over all picture will be better.

I would recommend picking up a car magazine of your personal taste in style, and emulate some of their composition.

I am no pro but all the photos are awkward IMO.

I pretty much agree... I don't care for 1 or 2, 2 would probably be better if it wasn't chopped off- I don't know if that was on purpose. I like 3 but think I would have offset it to the right just a little more and I like 4 even though I never really cared for Prowlers I probably would have tried to get a few pics too... on that note, I don't like Ford's either but those Mustangs do look pretty bad@ss. LOL. Hopefully this doesn't turn into a debate all of it's own.

I agree with the others on #1 and 2. I think that #3 is pretty good but you need to be very careful on what you cut off. The crop you provided cuts off the very bottom of the fog light, leaves some of the white stripe along with some of the windshield and side mirror. Also, I'm not totally sure what you are trying to highlight in the photo, the lines of the car, the headlight or the cobra badge. If it is the cobra badge it seems out of focus and underexposed, so I don't think it was your goal but not positive. I also like #4 but think it could use a little more exposure.

I guess because I was so worried about what was in the back ground I didn't take other things into consideration. On #3 I should have changed the focus point to the Cobra badge and not focus on the headlight.

I am not a Mustang fan at all, I'm a Honda guy lol. Thank you for the links, I'll read over them and give it another try.

Is this a little better?

Took a few more for practice yesterday, really trying to work on that rule of thirds thing. The bad part about shooting this car is I can't move it, the wheel is turned out and there are motor homes everywhere! So I did what I could. I didn't want to make a new post on the same car, so tell me what you think.

2. I know with the wheel being turned like it is the car should be on the left only, but I wanted to see what it would look like this way.
