FF shooter out there, don't you guys think this would be a great range? I believe Sigma make one in this range but only for crop sensor. I wish they'd make one for FF. I think it'll be great for outdoor event/concert/sport and weddings too.

A traditional 70-200 would be about the same on a FF. I think that it was designed for that idea.

How would it be the same? With this lens, it would eliminate your typical 50 prime. This and a wide angle zoom (17-35mm) or a 24/28 prime is all you would really need for a lot of things.

well. the 1.6x equivalent of 50-150 is.. 80-240mm..
so you're getting something close to the 70-200mm on a FF body.

70-200mm on a crop frame on the other hand.. is 112-320mm I believe.

to be honest 70mm does feel a bit too telephoto for me sometimes on my Canon 10D... though the 200mm never seems to be enough x]

I think you guys are getting things mixed up here. I shoot with a Nikon D700 which is a full frame sensor. What I was referring to is a 50-150mm on a FF sensor. A lot of event that I shoot at does not required 200mm of telephoto but I still very much need the 80-150 range. So by having a telephoto that goes from 50-150 is great for a lot of situation where a 50mm is wide enough so it eliminate the need to carry an extra 50prime. That way you don't have to carry a second body or switch lens. You would only need one fast ultra wide prime (20/24/28mm) or zoom. Again, I am talking about full frame sensor here, so there's no need for 1.xx cropped equiv math.

For your situation, you should look into the Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 DC which is specifically made for crop sensor.

Nikon made a 50-135mm f/3.5 AiS zoom lens in the 1980's. I have one. It is a very useful lens length to have...it encompasses all of the normal to short-tele prime lens lengths in one, single lens barrel...50mm,60mm, 85mm,90mm,105mm,135mm. Six discrete focal lengths in one barrel. If it went to 150mm, it would be even better.
