Just to quickly add on the 35mm f/2. I recently bought it and find it very good on crop body also. I also had read it was noisy but it hasn't effected me yet, but it may cause concern if you had to be very quiet. Build quality is ok to, your not going to be able to throw it around but it shouldn't fall apart either

Thanks everyone. I am def going to go with the primes over the zoom for now. Until I see what is going to happen here soon with canon and if they are going to release a new body or not I am going to hold on to my body. There is no real rush. And I am going to try and pick up a 50mm 1.4 to start play with that for a little on my xsi then try and find a good 5D body. There is a 5D pretty close to here for $950 in good shape but like I said I think I am going to wait and see here for a few weeks. Not that I would get the new one but it could open up a flood of older bodies.
