Upgrade advise appreciated from a Canon 5D Mark ii

I currently have a Canon 5D Mark ii with an EF 24-105 L IS USM and a Speedlite 550Ex. These days, I mostly use the camera for inside photos at family events. I am looking for advise on what a good upgrade would be for me. My hope is to improve a couple of stops faster and maybe better/faster focusing. I am pretty happy with my current setup, but am looking for a good upgrade that seems reasonable. Can you suggest new pieces or a whole new system.

The canon 5d my 4 stay with the system use the my 2 as a back up body

I'd say just get a Mark IV body.

I traded in my 5D mark iii for the R6 and very happy. I like the touch screen and the eye focus. With an adapter I am able to use my EF lenses. The adapter I purchased you can assign the ring for settings. Mine is set to ISO.

Before my switch to Sony in 2018, I had a 5D mk3 and loved that camera. If you are staying with the DSLR, I would agree with the 5D mk4.

Just curious, about an EOS R vs a 5d Mark IV, if it could be had for a few hundred dollars cheaper?
