A better way ?

I tried this shot on a midnight.. I wasnt using a tripod, I think there is a reflection due to lens protector, ... My idea was to capture the persons face with using the matches light... I almost thought something like this, But I need suggestion on making this idea better...
Angle? lighting? compositon?? etc..

The first thing I would do is change the angle. I would get a little lower and move myself more directly infront of the model. This will catch more of the light reflecting off of his face. Keep his hands between the flame and the lens and it will eliminate the lens flare and if your using any mode besides manual it will help catch a better exposure as long as it reads off his face. I would get a little closer as well. And if that's a little bit of motion blur I'd bump up the ISO or more preferably open up the lens a little more if possible to help speed up that shutter.

I think you need two light sources - the one you're trying to capture, and a second one outside the camera's view that paints the person with a little bit (very little) to allow them to separate from the background.

This^ The match is a small, VERY intense light source and won't work for what you want to do.

Thanks, I will try changing my angle with some more ISO, I thought the same after taking this shot.. but I choosed this angle because I wanted to record the light source as well, but results cameout this way.. But still I like this shot

Thats right I did not wanted to use any artificial light, I took this shot under moon light, which I used to focus somewhat.. I wanted the yellow light of match stik on his face..!! And only that..!
I will comeup with a better shot of the same next week

makes sense !! I googled and found a similar experiment of what I thought..... Just that I wanted it more Intense

On more challege I had in this shot is I have to take it at the right time, coz the light changes as soon as it is fired since its a match stick... But I could have used continous shots, this didnt strike to my mind since I bought my d5100 very recently, I explored the option after that
