A Bird and a Pond

Some kind of bird in on the shore of our neighbors pond.

What set up did you use? You look pretty close and are shooting wide open.

I'm using a canon T2i and the 55-250mm cheap lens. So do you think I should use a lower apenture around F10? would that make it look better. I was about 15 feet away from the bird when I took the picture. I now remember I had been photographing dragonflies at a high shutterspeed, and I forgot to change the settings on on my camera for that picture.

Here's one of the dragonflies I managed to get. It is very hard to manually focus the lens while the dragonfly is flying.
