i own: a rebel XSi with the 18-55mm 3.6-5.8 kit lens

I NEED: a 58mm lens for this camera under $250

(reason being not only because of the versatility and variance in optical qualities in owning multiple lenses, but i ordered a 58mm hoya r72 infrared filter, and i read that the canon rebel kit lens gives a wicked hot spot for infrared images)

There are plenty of lenses that a 58mm filter will fit.

You don't need a 58mm lens. You just need one that uses 58mm filters.
