A change of scenery

Ive been stuck in the city and tried to get out a little and see some new landscape.

I know its not earth shattering, but what do you think?

I am amazed that you are amazed.

Anyways I think you have a fundamental issue here. You have two subjects fighting for attention and the composition suffers because of it. I think you could have made the scene work if you were low down, shot with a longer focal length for good compression and had the tree take up more of the frame.

Oh and it's a bit under exposed.

Sometimes, it so happens that you post in the middle of 50 other people posting at the same time - therefore, your post is no longer "at the top" of new posts - and then it gets lost.

It's not that people are rude and don't want to give opinions or feedback - it's just they lose it / don't see it.

... or they have nothing constructive to say - which is rare, because I've had nothing but great help here, no matter how minor it is.

But with regards to your image above and what I see ... I see a bridge and a piece of tree. I keep flicking my eyes between the two and am unsure what the focus of the image is.

Both would be great subjects individually.

I was about to say also get rid of the spots in the sky, but then I realized I've accidentally spat some food over my monitor.

Before I posted that statement, I went to every catagory and looked at the average reply count on each thread of the first page. Even though this has been brought up I dont know how many times since I joined this site. It is in fact a true statement to say getting feedback and CC on pictures is like pulling teeth. I have posted a total of 7 pics in the last 2 weeks and gotten 1 to 2 replys on them mainly (if that) from the same 2 people. Braineack being the most consistent. Ive recommended this site to several friends and they come for about a month then leave because getting feedback and replies to their posts is almost non existent. But in the overall scene.... yeah at this point it shouldnt surprise me anymore. I have been here long enough to know that unless you post ground breaking photos, or post street shots with no real value to them, you almost never get feedback.

On a side note. I was actually going for the 2 subject shot. I guess it didnt work. I think I need to calibrate my monitors because I thought it was a little to bright when I exported it. Ill have to rethink that, thank you for your opinion.

Because my phone cuts at least half of posted pictures, after reading Braineack comment I actually thought there were some horses in your photo lol!

- lower would be better, as runnah has said, and I agree with the rest of what he said
- it would benefit from a different processing
- don't go, every time I see you post something I'll comment deal?

Honestly I only hit the "Active Topics" button at the top to see whats hot. If it goes down off that first page I don't see it.

I wouldn't take it as a sign of disrespect or lack of caring. This site just gets busy and things move around too quickly.

i think I would like it better in portrait with more foreground. It looks like there might be some rocks/pebbles in the foreground? I think portrait in combination of getting lower and closer to the tree would be better.

and I second the lack of comments on C&C on this site. I have posted a few things, incl one a couple of days ago and got 1 comment. whats the point.

Thank you, I wasn't planning on going anywhere. Just frustrated. I have a genuine interest in this and want to learn, but getting feedback here is almost impossible. Thank you for the input. I appreciate your opinion.

People give honest critique and when it's not positive they get crap.
After a while they decide f*** it, why put in the effort if all someone wants to hear is positive responses.

I am absolutely brutal with my own work. I doubt anyone would care to get that level of abuse.
Plus, the mods eventually ban people that give overly negative feedback.

When you're a newbie, gentle critique is is nice and I suppose the admins would like that so they keep the numbers up.
After a while though that kind of C&C is completely useless to anyone who gives a ship.
That's when the people most capable of good critique leave, get banned, of just shut up.

I much prefer the wild west where people can say whatever they want.
Unfortunately, those places died with usenet.

Your photo is underexposed and is poorly composed.
It's also out of focus and the horizon is tilted.
Runnah's comments are spot on.

My 2 cents.

I appreciate constructive criticism. I am a straight forward type of person so I would rather be told that I need improvement..... rather than keep producing crap.


I think I have a monitor issue, on my screen it looks good as far as exposure. Are you saying the foreground is under or the back ground is under or just the whole thing.
