Here a few more recent candid portraits. I'm playing with lightroom 3.4 trial, I think this will be the first software I purchase. Please don't mind the watermark. I've never used one before and the option was there during the conversion so I figured I'd try. I put the transparency on the wrong end of the slider for the watermark too. I wanted it to be barely visible.

I personally like #3 the best.

I prefer 2.
Both eyes in focus would have made it even better.
Makes you wonder what on earth it was that was troubling him so!?!?

Thank you so much for the comments.
Yes I should have stopped down, but I wanted to get his stroller as out of focus as possible.

I always wonder whats on his mind as well. He probably wanted some ice cream! It's been a pain getting him to eat anything, but the kid will rise from a deep sleep for some ice cream!

Anyone have any comments on the editing? I did not use any of the lightroom presets but maybe there are a few that are nice. Any suggestions?

The conversions are well done. Not over done, highlights and shadows are still rendered. Good job. These photo's are also nice and crisp, so well done there too. I personally prefer the second one as well, but agree his other eye in focus would have made it even better. You could always do that, then use gaussian blur in ps to blur the stroller out.

Thanks for the comments. I've tried using gaussian blur but it never looks equal to the bokeh of the lens(at least the 85 f1.4). Something that I should start practicing. I have to say lightroom is fantastic! It may not get into layers in such but I seem to get a better handle and produce better edits with it(because of my lack of skill) than I have with capture and CS5.
