Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Well, i'm entirely new to the world of photography, having bought my first DSLR a little over a month ago now, i'm always open to feedback and suggestions for how I can improve, and i've lurked around here for a little bit now and it looks like a good place to ask :)

So, here's a few of my photos ...

They are all nice pictures and I LOVE the processing of them... but what exactly are the subjects? #1 my eye is wandering...it would of probably been a better shot if you took with when the subway train was approaching with the lights and all. Is it even a subway station? I dont know...

Yeah, at some point i'm planning on going back there (yes, it's one of the underground stations in London btw) and seeing if I can get a similar shot with an incoming train, hopefully with a slightly longer shutter speed to catch some movement - but I won't be able to use a tripod, so that might prove a little tricky

Love you shots though. Are you really a beginner? Is the second photo HDR? I love your second shot too but the cut off motorcycles are bothering me.

I'd never touched a DSLR or Photoshop until I was laid off a month ago and decided I really needed a new hobby to stay sane :)

The second and third ones are both HDR because of the tricky lighting in them, and I should probably have added another underexposed one to really get the details through the archway.

The fact that the motorcycles are cut off bugs me a little bit, but unfortunately I can't fix that now, but I think the space would look a bit wrong if there wasn't anything in it

I see beginner in them, but I also see trappings of artist. I might have done a few things differently with the compositions, but I think I see where the shot was interesting, and I do feel some emotions and connections to them, so I'd say you're off to a better start than most new folks are (or were).

One general piece of advice- don't let yourself get bogged down in processing. Focus on the artistry of the image, and only use processing to bring out your vision. Processing is like makeup... too much is not a good thing, but how much is right is always a question.

Oh and you can't put lipstick on a pig and expect it to be other than a pig. :) (not a commentary on these images in particular, btw)

Thanks for the kind words and the advice :)

A slightly more abstract view that caught my eye a few weeks back ..

I went back to get that shot, I think it turned out pretty well ...

Pretty cool! If you are just beginning, then I can't imagine what kind of images you will take when you get more practice! You've definitley got a good eye! =D

#1 very stark and dramatic. I love the slight curvature of the lights on the ceiling as it really draws me into the picture. #2 I love this shot especially because the sun is peeking around the corner. There's a bit too much distraction in the forground but I doubt you could have cropped it out. #3 I like this one but you are a bit over exposed at the other end of the arches. The abstract is great but I would like to have seen a bit more of it. I like the last shot but not quite as much as the first one. Overall very nice work. Keep shooting and posting.

It looks tilted because of the converging lines on the top of the picture. You've got the top of the wall on the left that is on a slant and the line of lights above the train. They sorta meet at the far end of the shot.

Here's my take on the subway photo with the train going through:

Great shots, love the processing. I don't normally dig the selective color, but the way you did so in #1, it works. #2 is my favorite. #3 I'd try to remove the people from the end of the tunnel - it reminds me of an old castle or something, until you get to the end of the tunnel and see the 21st century outside. ;) It takes away from the subject, which I would think to be the inside of the tunnel or castle...
