a few from my 365 project for c&c

Try posting less images to get valuable comments.

3 and 4 are cool, with 4 being my favorite. the others lack interesting subject matter/ creativity that 4 in particular has. the converging lines are quite powerful.

I agree on 3 and 4, although I would try again 3 with a lighter background if possible, to enhance the shape of the bottle (even if out of focus). 4 needs perhaps a slight straightening.
I also do not have much comments on my one-a-week project; I imagine one a day is even more difficult, because taking one good picture a day is not easy ;) .

Agreed with above, 3 and 4 are cool. I would give alittle more DOF to 3 to define the bottle just a little bit. I also like 6, however I think it would be cool if you had left the lego guy where he stands and just had like a house knocked down in the back and not quite as out of focus. That would have given more subject to it.

I wish I had done weekly versus daily but I keep plugging away. My problem is when I have a 'less-than-creative' day I'm not happy with myself and I'm only on day 86! Good luck with finishing the project lovemultiplied. Keep up the good work!

I agree that the bottle should be more defined.

but 3 and 4 are my favorites here.

I agree with pretty much what everyone else has said. #4 is my favorite as well, #1 just makes me hungry lol.

Thank you all for the comments. Ironically, i didn't even like 4 until i turned it b&w and then i fell in love. i agree that it needs to be straightened.
it may have helped to know that each day has a theme. #3 & #5 are cheats actually. 3 being an alternative for the theme glass that i took another angle of the bottle for and 5 just being a random shot unrelated to the project. on 6, i would have had the background more focused, but i had about 7 headless lego guys... my kids are fond of beheading, apparently. the theme for that shot was solitude, so the focus IMO enhances the theme.
I think i'll try the coke bottle with the suggestions posted here. i loved the shot but it felt off, and i agree that defining the bottle and a lighter background would probably help.
to be honest, i wouldn't be shocked for my photos to lack interesting subject matter and creativity. i work late shifts and tend to sleep in so most of my quality picture time is between midnight and 3am.

Jeez.

My only suggestion is that you stop this 365 project. All they tend to do is stress people out because they need to get a shot, and when they get it, the shot is generally junk because they were forcing it.

If even YOU feel that they lack creativity and subject matter, maybe its time you put the camera down for a couple days to recharge your creative battery.

I agree… it can be stressful especially on uninspiring days. I’ve had a few of those myself. One day I found a cow, another day a dandelion. Then again, some days the photo just finds me. I’m currently on day 86 which is not a lot considering I have 279 days remaining. Wow, maybe I shouldn’t say that out loud.

Although the 365 day project can be a pain on some days, I also see the discipline that it is teaching, sort of like a soldier who has to carry his rifle with him constantly. While training at the Whittington Center I repeatedly let my firearm run out of ammo (before doing a mag exchange). I was warned numerous times and the instructor gave me one more warning. Well, I failed and did it again. My punishment was to carry a 7 pound rock for the remainder of my stay, “The punishment rock” as they called it. I had to carry it everywhere… even to dinner. Needless to say I didn't run out of ammo again.

While the 365 day project may seem stressful at times I can see the progress I’ve made over the last 86 days. I carry my camera like a soldier carries his rifle (except I don't sleep with mine ;) ). Repetitive and disciplined actions will teach me to focus and to concentrate. I was telling Bitter in another post, the only pitfall I see with my own personal 365 is I have no one to correct me when I do wrong. No instructors standing over me just waiting to make me carry a rock. Hopefully one day I’ll have the opportunity to study under someone.

WHen I started my one-a-week project I considered also a 365 day project, but since photography is not only shooting but also working on the picture in postprocessing, I didn't see how to fit all that work every day for an entire year. So I went for 52 photos, which leaves me the time (and not always) to postprocess.

If I spent that much time postprocessing I would begin to ask myself how I could have gotten it right to begin with.

First of all, props to you people who take on a 365 or 52 project. I think there's a lot to be said for that exercise in discipline like you were saying, JWellman. It's not just the discipline of having your camera with you, but that exercise every day or every week to develop your critical eye. I think it's great!

Not surprisingly, I don't agree with this statement: "the others lack interesting subject matter/ creativity that 4 in particular has." Interesting to whom? It's subjective, of course, and #4 wasn't particularly a standout to me as far as drawing my initial interest, but really that's neither here nor there. I did enjoy the unusual perspective of #3 and I really happen to like #5 - I like the simplicity and the vibrant color pop, I like the barely there, you'll have look a little closer quality for such a foreboding warning. And a foodie might really find #1 most interesting to them. You just never know.

Keep plugging away - it's a daunting task. And midnight to 3am for your shooting time?? Yikes!
