Went to the Columbus Zoo Saturday. came back with almost 400 pictures. These are a few. Only the last one has any processing. C&C is always welcome. I need to know how to improve.

You might have captured and framed the birds better if shooting in portrait mode over landscape?

Good suggestion although I cans still crop the ones I have.

#1 looks like the flamingo's eye is soft.. that should be the focal point and razor sharp.... nice shot except for that. Try cropping off all the background on the right, and minimize the background up top (fill the frame with Flamingo).. you might like it.

#2 - a larger aperture would have softened the background more.. and increased separation of the subject and background. As 2wheel mentioned... vertical orientation.

#3 - I would try a tighter crop.. since the Orangutaun's hand is cut off... just up to where the wrist starts

#4 - As 2wheel mentioned... vertical orientation.

#5 - highlights blown.. ambient light is difficult when it is like this. Maybe darken and do some light cloning on the highlights if you have the software...
