#2 is pretty cool. I think you are right about it being related to irrigation.

Those are great shots!!! The circles are crop fields with a rotary irrigation system. A single water line comes up in the middle of the field and a pipe runs out on a wheeled system from there so you don't have to manually move a bunch of pipe all the time.
