A few hours in Denver

I'm about to book a trip to Mexico and I'll have a stopover of a few hours in Denver. My flight arrives in the mile high city at 7:30am and my connection leaves at 6:35pm.

Is there anybody from Denver posting here? (Or has anybody ever been there?) I'll only have a few hours to walk around, so what single part of town would you recommend I go to? I'd love to visit the Denver Art Museum... Is it located in an interesting/safe area of the city?

Also, what would be the best way to travel downtown from/to the airport?

Any ideas would be of much help!

I don't know anything much at all about Denver, accept that I'm a football fan and my favorite team for the last 26 years have been the Bronco's (I'm no wagon jumper). However I just recently seen an article listing the top 20 photo friendly cities n the USA and if I'm not mistaken Denver was top 3 if not #1.. Have fun,
