What's new

A few new photos for C & C

I think that #1 is a jumble and not recoverable without more space on the sides.
Just those little slivers of door frame make it look like a missed job of framing the picture - and the perspective distortion is also annoying.
Either be inside or out of the space.

There is more space in the original, I cropped the one I posted. No sure why I did but I just thought it looked better cropped.

If you are willing, it might be useful or instructive to post a LARGE original somewhere and allow us to work to a final image on that.

Sure, I dont mind at all. I can post them once I get home from work. Im here to learn so whatever is going to help me see what Im doing right or wrong Im all for. I have the full size RAW images, I can post a few of the house and this one as well. Should I just post them here?

Technically speaking, it's not possible to post a RAW image because the web browser is incapable of interpreting it into a viewable image. You will need to convert it to .jpg, but maybe that's what you meant. Now, if you have a filehost or ftp, you could host the RAW file for us to play with.

The original waterfall does look much cleaner, but I can still see a bit of mud in it.

Sure I can post the RAW files in my mediafire account. What link will you need to access the files?

I'm not familiar with mediafire, but whatever the link they give you...

I may not see them as I'm leaving work soon, but if noone else takes a look, send me a PM and I'll check 'em out when I can.

I played around with the cabin one you posted earlier... the only thing I don't like about the original is the perspective distortion which you do have enough room to fix in the original file. I think you did a nice job with the processing. I couldn't come up with a B&W conversion that I liked better than yours. It's crisp and punchy.

I also played around with the door frame raw but I just couldn't do anything with it other than brighten up the back of the room and fix the distortion, which really didn't do much for the photo. I think the image is a lost cause for me, however, if you like it, then definitely hold on to it. Having said that, I think the *place* may have potential, I just don't like this rendering/composition of it.

Ok, thanks for the help. Both locations are within 5 miles from my house so I will be going back to get some more shots. I will probably wait until the leaves start changing until I head back. Hopefully the 2nd time around I will have a little better luck.
