Again, why exactly are you discouraged?
Thanks Bitter Butter and I don't know... I'm just in a rut I suppose. Maybe it's the moon dragging me down. :er:

#2 is a fairly good try at a technical shot. Try this again in less light.
#4 is a decent silhouette; everyone does one or two and it is difficult to find unique action or background that makes them really memorable.

#5 is a nice picture but would improve a lot by re-framing.
why is it in portrait when the lines of the main subject are horizontal?
why so much green above and below - it doesn't add anything.
this kind of crop seems much more dynamic to me

Thanks Traveler, I find myself always in portrait versus landscape. I don't know why, it's just where I always end up.

Lie on your side.
You are funny... just remember I take to heart everything you say. I think I've used vignette twice since you scolded me about it.

And Traveler, just an FYI, I cannot get your website gallery to work in Chrome. I had to open it in Firefox. I noticed it the first time I went to visit and didn't mention it to you. It might be just my Chrome but maybe a few people can test it for you.

Odd, I just tried in Chrome and it works fine.
I hope you liked it in Firefox.

Indeed! I've been there three or four times now. I just forgot it doesn't work in my Chrome.

#2 is fantastic and I like the crop that the traveler suggested.

Love #2! Neato skeeto. :) I wish the light fell a smidge lower so that the dangling seed could catch a little more light.

1,2,and 4 are pretty good "seeing". #3, of the road, and #5, of the upside down butterfly, are not quite as tidy.

Shot #1 uses OOF foreground bokeh and a touch of humor to make an interesting, slightly offbeat shot.
Shot #2 of the dandilion is blown-out on the sun area, but I do like the way the shot was composed. technically, it;s a bit off, and it is a cliche subject, yet it's composed well.
Shot #4 of the fisherman silhouetted in evening light--I LOVE the way the frame is dark at the top, with several trees reflected on the water's surface, then some ripples, and then the bush in the upper right hand background, and then the man, complete with a couple of rings on the water, and at the end of his line, what looks to me to be a salamander on the hook!! The lakeside vegetation is lovely, and the rocks he's standing on are just superb--to me this is a very successful "pictorial" photo. It's exceptionally well-composed, and well-exposed. It's rock-solid. As a stock photo, this image could live for years and years. It has a "story" behind it, with just a second or two's worth of thought.

The upside down butterfly; frankly, when they are positioned that way, tail-up, I could care less about them...looks awful, no matter how it's cropped...like a dead deer...just a non-starter. The roadway...ummm,okay...the vignetted feeling is a bit too intense and closed-in for my taste. Not much going on there, story-wise.
